The Season

In Cross Country, competitors run races that vary in length from 2 to 3 miles. Girls' and boys' fresh-soph races are 2 miles long. Varsity girls races are 2.5 miles long. Varsity boys races are 3 miles long.

The first practice of the 2000 season for the Northside Mustangs was in late August. The Mustangs had quite a season, winning several meets and doing well overall.

Among the races that the Mustangs won were the Mather Invitational, the Providence St. Mel Invitational, and two races at Legion Park.

On October 7, the Regional meet was held at Washington Park. The top five teams would advance to the City Championship. The Mustangs varsity boys placed in 2nd place. Also, the girls' varsity and fresh-soph teams moved advanced. Jeremy Larkin and John Krumsee qualified as individuals in the fresh-soph division to move on to the City Championships.

At the State qualifications, none of the Mustangs advanced to go down to state. The boys varsity team came especially close; they were only one place away from advancing.

At the city championships, two Mustangs run side by side while one pursues closely
